Beating Procrastination Strategy
The first part of the strategy for beating procrastination is to be able to recognize and confront the ways you may find to excuse it. Now that you've seen how to use this part of the strategy, you need to find out how to break the procrastination habit.
The way to do this is by putting in place a consistent set of behaviors which, when you follow them, will help you end procrastination for good.
Beating Procrastination Actions
Are you faced with something you need to do, but you keep putting it off? Take three small actions immediately. These actions will replace the temptation to, or habit of, procrastination.
You should:
identify the outcome you want,
take the first step, and
learn from the past.
If the action you need to take is to organize a conference, then the outcome you want is a well-run occasion everyone enjoys, and which enhances your reputation for efficiency. If the action you need to take is to, unfortunately, terminate the employment of a co-worker, then the outcome you want is that the person no longer works for the company, but there is respect on both sides, and no bad feeling.
Having identified the outcome, note the actions that will lead to it, and take the first one without delay.
Learn a lesson from the past to help you in the present. If you were successful in a similar situation in the past, what helped you succeed? If you failed in a similar situation, what do you need to do differently so that you succeed this time?
Applying a lesson from the past will build your confidence and motivation to take necessary action now, in the present. It will focus you on positive, constructive action, and break the log jam of procrastination.

Listen next Alberto's course of action to learn more about how Alberto applies it.
First, identify the outcome:
"I need everyone to leave the briefing knowing what the quality standards required are, believing we can achieve them, and enthusiastic to do so." (...)
